Valenta provides treatment to assist individuals struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and various forms of these illnesses. The program combines medical and therapeutic treatments providing patients access to the tools available for the treatment of eating disorders. The patient, psychiatrist, and staff work together as a team to challenge these complex and dangerous illnesses. Most important, Dr. Mar’s approach builds and restores health as well as just removing the symptoms of the eating disorder.

Multi-Disciplinary Team

While attending the program, patients will be seen by a multi-disciplinary team led by the Medical Director, Jeffrey Mar, MD.

Dr. Mar is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Board Eligible in Child Psychiatry and Board Certified in Pediatrics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Mar is closely involved in the care of each patient and interacts with the patients throughout the week, often seeing the patients on a daily basis. In addition, each patient will be assigned a primary therapist to provide individual and family sessions and to help the patient with daily and weekly challenges.

Other therapists in the program will assist in alternate therapeutic areas. The registered dietitian will also meet with the patient for individual and family sessions and assist in education and improvement of nutrition as well as being present at the majority of meals to assist in challenging the eating disorder.
